Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Sleepy Chat (“we”, “us”, or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you access our dashboard, chat experiences, APIs, and supporting services (collectively, the “Services”). By using the Services, you consent to the practices described here.

Sleepy Chat uses YouTube API Services. By using the Services to connect YouTube, you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. For more information on how Google handles data, review the Google Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide

  • Account details from identity providers (such as your name, email address, and avatar).
  • Chat feeds, layout configurations, and other preferences you store in the dashboard.
  • Linked channel metadata from platforms you connect (e.g., channel IDs, display names, profile images).

Information collected from YouTube API Services

  • OAuth tokens and authorized scopes used to access YouTube on your behalf.
  • Channel profile details (such as channel ID, title, custom URL, and profile image).
  • Live chat messages and event payloads (including message content, author display name, author channel ID, profile image, and moderator/owner/sponsor status).
  • YouTube Live events such as Super Chats, Super Stickers, memberships, gifted memberships, and viewer count signals.
  • Subscriber details returned by YouTube API Services (such as subscriber channel ID, display name, avatar, and subscription timestamp) to power subscriber or membership alerts.

Information collected automatically

  • Log data like IP address, browser type, and timestamps, which help us operate and secure the Service.
  • Aggregated usage analytics and error reports used for performance monitoring and troubleshooting. If you opt into analytics, we may also collect pseudonymous identifiers and usage patterns through tools such as Google Analytics. Analytics providers may set their own cookies and collect information according to their privacy policies.

Stream content relayed

When you connect a platform, our relay temporarily processes chat messages and event payloads to display them across your active sessions, including YouTube live chat signals. These payloads are not stored once the session ends.

3. How We Use Information

  • Authenticate you and maintain secure sessions in the dashboard.
  • Render combined chat, alerts, and viewer counts while you stream.
  • Store chat feeds so you can reuse layouts across browsers and devices.
  • Access and process YouTube API data (including tokens, channel profile details, and live chat events) to link your channel, display YouTube activity, and keep your authorization current.
  • Process YouTube live chat, viewer counts, and subscriber or membership events in our relay services and transmit them to your connected clients (such as browser sources or OBS overlays) in real time.
  • Monitor performance, prevent abuse, and resolve technical issues.
  • Analyze usage trends (when analytics are enabled) to improve the Services.

4. Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We only share data with:

  • Google/YouTube API Services when you connect YouTube and authorize access.
  • Identity providers that authenticate you.
  • Streaming platforms as required to connect your channels.
  • Infrastructure, analytics, and error-reporting partners that help deliver the product.
  • Authorities or third parties when required by applicable law, subpoena, or legal process.

When you connect YouTube, we also share and process YouTube data:

  • Internally with our relay services that retrieve and stream live chat events, viewer counts, and subscriber activity.
  • With hosting and storage providers that run our APIs and store encrypted YouTube tokens.
  • With service providers that help us monitor, secure, and support the Services.

We share information internally with team members and contractors who need it to operate and support the Services, and externally with service providers who process data on our behalf. These parties are required to use the data only to provide services to Sleepy Chat and to protect it.

5. Data Retention

We retain account information and chat feeds while your account remains active. Relayed chat payloads are ephemeral and discarded after delivery. We retain YouTube tokens and linked channel metadata until you unlink YouTube or delete your account. Our relay services keep short-lived, in-memory caches (such as live broadcast metadata and recent subscriber IDs) to avoid duplicate events and improve performance. We retain logs and analytics data only as long as necessary for legitimate business purposes or legal compliance. You may delete your account at any time to remove stored chat feeds, linked channel records, and associated tokens.

6. Your Choices

  • Update or delete chat feeds directly from the dashboard.
  • Unlink connected platforms through the Manage Platforms page.
  • Request account deletion from the Account page or by contacting us.
  • Disable chat connections at any time to stop message processing.

7. Security

We use HTTPS, role-based access controls, and encrypted storage for sensitive tokens. While no system is infallible, we continuously monitor the service for suspicious activity and encourage you to enable multi-factor authentication with your identity provider.

8. Children's Privacy

Sleepy Chat is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us so we can remove it.

9. International Users

Our infrastructure may process data in the United States or other regions. By using Sleepy Chat, you consent to the transfer and processing of your information outside your home country.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of material changes through the dashboard or by email. Continued use of Sleepy Chat after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
